In terms of Setup, the concept of VIZIV car performance from Tokyo Auto Salon may signal what is expected. The vehicle has a thick outline, a bent-down stance, and blazing Fender. There are obvious nuances of climbing SUV that will come in the design language, perhaps especially in carved headlights and all new Grille.

Under-The-Hood specs are still steadily under wraps. For reference, WRX currently features a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generating an impressive 268 HP with 258 lb-ft torque. The more powerful WRX STI uses 2.5 older-liter turbo making 305 HP with 290 lb-ft torque
With HKS turbochargers, the 2.5-liter flat 4-cylinder Boxer engine develops approximately 341 horsepower. This is a 31-Pony increase over the stock WRX STI. Contributing to the enhancement is a larger turbine and compressor with an increased boost of 16.2 psi to 18 psi. The high-flow air intake carries more outdoor air and larger injectors to accommodate for changes. 6-speed manual transmission with a close ratio distributes the Engine output to the four wheels via Symmetric AWD system of Subaru with limited front/back/rear torque differential and active torsion vector.
SI’s being drive system offers three modes: Intelligent for better mileage, Sport to optimize the balance between response and control and Sharp Sport for the fastest acceleration.

Interestingly, although the difference in power output was expressed, independent testing by Road & Track reportedly found that WRX achieved a full boost and delivered a torque earlier than STI, hitting 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds versus IMS 4.8 seconds.
Fans continue to be drawn to WRX because of its attractive value proposition and $8,500 price gains over the range-topping STI model ($36,015 vs $27,515). But will this continue to be the case in the next generation? That remains to be seen.
Key competitors for WRX include Volkswagen GTI and Ford Focus ST. At the higher end, it competes with the Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus RS.
Other performance enhancements include performance-focused chassis with a flexible buffer tower bar, Brembo brakes with high friction pads and a 19-in wheel-forged BBS wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600A Rubber. To accommodate a wider wheel and tire, STI has added several Wide-Body components that widen 2020 Subaru WRX STI S209 more than 1.5 inches above the WRX STI stock.
Supporting the body is a unique Bilstein Dampers, spring rigid coil and larger 20 mm stabilizer rear bar. The flexible front/rear of the balancer attracts keeping the tension between the body and cross members.
