2024 Subaru WRX STI Rumors: Powered by BRZ Turbo Engine
2024 Subaru WRX STI Rumors
2024 Subaru WRX STI – The Subaru WRX STI is expected to follow the regular WRX in the United States.
The New WRX STI is expected to use a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine that pumps 202kW and 350Nm (up from 197kW and 350Nm) and features a stiffer chassis sportier gearbox, and other fun-focused equipment.
2024 Subaru WRX STI
By 2024, the Subaru WRX STI is expected to use a new platform – the SGP or Subaru Global Platform – which the brand says “significantly improves driving dynamics” thanks to its “very rigid body and chassis.” Variable Torque Distribution in the car model.
The regular WRX is just the beginning of Subaru’s performance story, with the iconic STI model following, either later in 2023 or early 2024.
Subaru hasn’t revealed its official power output or specs yet, but you can expect the number to rise significantly from those in the regular WRX.
Rumors are spreading across the internet, of course, with everything from the new STI opening up extra grunts through electrification to power axes and torque turned on for new models.
2024 Subaru WRX STI Engine
The new model will get a new, turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine currently found in the U.S.-specific Ascent SUV. According to some reports from Japan, the new engine is estimated to produce 295kW.
It’s worth pointing out here that STI currently produces 221kW and 407Nm, so you can become a new model comfortably beating those outputs.
The 2024 Subaru WRX STI will probably debut with a turbocharged version of the engine used in the Subaru BRZ.
According to the Japanese website Goo-net, Subaru will unveil the high-performance WRX STI in mid-2022 for the 2023 model, powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter ‘FA24’ four-cylinder engine that produces about 295kW.
The FA24 is the same engine found in the upcoming Subaru BRZ coupe – and its twin, the Toyota GR 86 – albeit in a non-turbo form. Subaru insists that the new BRZ will not offer turbo since the model is shown in late 2020.
While the company has been slow to introduce electrification across its lineup, the report suggests the WRX STI will be the last vehicle to come from a carmaker without hybrid technology — although an STI with some hybrid assistance is expected at a later date.
Rumors from the US suggest Subaru will unveil a new generation WRX at the Los Angeles motor show in November 2021. WRX was first shown at the LA show in 2015.
Rumors from Japan suggest the WRX STI debuted in mid-2023 for the 2024 tofu in the model. It’s unclear whether Subaru planned this schedule or whether the decision was made to delay the model due to a global shortage of computer chips. Affect the carmaker.
2024 Subaru WRX STI Interior
The interior will primarily carry away from the WRX, inheriting the new 11.6-inch tablet-style Starlink infotainment interface.
The Subaru EyeSight help suite is also likely to be featured as Subaru increases its focus on safety. Recaro bucket seats will be reinforced more aggressively, and the D-shaped steering wheel will be the driver’s focus, with STI emblems, thumb grips, and mandatory red contrast stitching.
2024 Subaru WRX STI Design
The big wing is the standard fare in the evolution from WRX to STI. But the STI model is more than just a wing.
The front and rear fenders have been widened to accommodate wider tracks and fatter tires, which are needed to dampen power impact, which will undoubtedly be accompanied by STI nomenclature.
Subaru has officially retired the EJ engine used in the last few generations of STI. The prediction is that the new model will inherit the flat-four 2.4-liter engine from the WRX but with a somewhat rotated axis.
2024 Subaru WRX STI Horsepower
While the WRX produces 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the STI is expected to produce 345 hp. Manuals will undoubtedly be present, as will the driver-controlled center differential (DCCD) STI, allowing drivers to adjust drivetrain behavior. Torque vectors with the help of brakes will also be displayed.
Expected output may drop on potential compared to the likes of Mercedes-AMG CLA 45’s 382 pounds or rs3’s new 401 hp, but the WRX STI has always been more about the driving experience than the live figures. It also has the benefit of what is called a ‘true’ all-wheel-drive system.
The engines are mounted longitudinally, unlike the two rivals mentioned above. Although they now have a rear clutch package with torque vector and even drift mode, we expect Subaru engineers to have considered this when tuning the STI powertrain.
Subaru WRX STI Features
In the transition to the STI specification, fog lights have been removed, and front air inflows expanded. The front and rear fascia are also more aggressive, with a chin spoiler, darker headlights, and a more aggressive grille.
The odd triple ventilation blade in the front wheel arch is replaced with a more traditional vent installed at the bottom. The STI fender badge is mandatory, accompanying the design.
A more significant exhaust outlet is expected to take advantage of Scooby’s signature burble on the back.
Because the STI is more tracks-focused than the WRX, it is estimated to drive lower to the ground than the model on which it is based, providing better body control and handling at its limits.
Of course, STI wouldn’t be complete without a set of signature BBS alloy wheels, which are finished in gold to accompany the WR Blue paint scheme.
2024 Subaru WRX STI Release Date
The 2024 Subaru WRX STI is expected to debut in late 2023 and arrive in the United States as a 2024 model year.
The new WRX only comes at dealerships in early 2023, which means we’ll have plenty of time to get to know it before the STI is revealed.
