2023 Subaru Crosstrek: What We Know So Far
2023 Subaru Crosstrek
2023 Subaru Crosstrek– Subaru debuted Crosstrek in 2013 (XV Crosstrek) and introduced a new Crosstrek for the 2018 model year. There are significant changes. It grew slightly in size and is now upon a new platform with a 40% better crash absorption capability.
Subaru made very few changes in the fifth model year after introducing the new version. However, changes made in the fourth year, known as the “Big Little Change,” were brought in. Last year, Subaru introduced its first Crosstrek Sport model and the first-ever 2.5-liter engine on the Crosstrek.

Most customers find the standard 2.0-liter engine (currently with 152 horsepower) enough. Still, the new engine will satisfy those who want extra power, including customers who are attractive or live in mountainous terrain. The 2.5-liter engine emits 182 horsepower.
Subaru Crosstrek Features
Other sports featured include the popular leather alternative StarTex interior. In addition, Subaru makes standard 2.5-liter engines on The Crosstrek Limited model, a trim level that has been available since the car was introduced for the 2013 model year.
Crosstrek Sport pushes Crosstrek’s spirit even further. The 2.5-liter direct-injection SUBARU BOXER engine comes standard.
The exterior features unique design elements such as the aggressive grille and wheel arches, gunmetal finish exterior accents, dark grey wheels, and exclusive Yellow Pearl Plasma paint available.
Inside, the StarTex-clad cabin is ready for a water-repellent upholstery adventure with yellow contrast stitching and yellow accent trim.
Each Crosstrek offers peace of mind on every trip with standard Subaru EyeSight Driver Assistance Technology. In addition, eyeSight can help reduce frontal impact by up to 85% by applying full braking force in emergencies with Pre-Collision Braking.
For 2021, Crosstrek now has Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, which can relieve stress from everyday driving by helping to brake and throttle control to keep a safe distance ahead.
The Crosstrek has an updated grille and front trim, accentuating its strong athletic attitude. In addition, the 18-inch engine’s wheels feature a new design to complement the high-energy style that makes Crosstrek a unique compact SUV – at home on the trailhead or in front of your favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Subaru Reveal Electric Concept
At the automaker’s global headquarters in Tokyo, Tomomi Nakamura, CEO of Subaru Corporation, revealed her core model plans.
Here’s what customers can expect for future Forester 2022 compact SUVs, Outback wagons, Crosstrek subcompact SUVs, and Ascent 3-Row family carrier models.
Due to the global shift towards all-electric cars, Automotive News Reports, Nakamura said Subaru would remain with its gas engines for as long as possible.
The CEO noted that Subaru’s unique Boxer engine offers fuel-saving capabilities, such as direct injection technology and lean combustion. He said Subaru would continue to refine the Boxer engine’s internal combustion technology until it is gone.
Subaru has moved towards a smaller turbocharged engine and uses a new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine in the new Ascent family carrier and newly renovated Outback and Legacy models.
The Japanese market Levorg has a new 1.8-liter direct-injection turbocharged Boxer engine. Nakamura says there’s no need for a hybrid version of Levorg, even in hybrid-loving Japan with his new fuel-efficient engine.
Subaru is currently developing a new all-electric SUV with Toyota that will be about the same size as the Forester. Therefore, Subaru must bring a new all-electric model by the end of 2022 for the 2023 model year.
Subaru will plan to have 40 percent of global sales of “electrified” vehicles by 2030. These electrification models will be a mix of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric for customers.
Subaru of America CEO Tom Doll also said recently, “We will introduce an all-electric SUV in a few years through our partnership with Toyota.
We have to provide that type of vehicle because of the way the fuel economy and the government’s CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) requirements, we need to have a range of electrification vehicles coming through the mid-2025 to 2030 models.”
Customers will see Subaru Forester, Outback, and Ascent hybrid SUVs and plug-ins between the 2025-2030 timeframe. Until then, Subaru will continue to “perfect” its lean-burn turbocharged Boxer engine in its models.
