New 2022 Subaru BRZ tS Redesign
New 2022 Subaru BRZ tS Redesign – Subaru BRZ tS may be back. There will only be 300 built for the U.S. market and Canada gets 50 special trims. It gets a special upgrade over BRZ Limited 2022 and has a $32,395 MSRP (including destination and shipping).
The BRZ tS 2022 will come with an additional performance from Subaru Tecnica International (STI). The BRZ tS comes with an STI-tuned front and rear suspension with Brembo brakes, a new Ceramic White exterior color with cherry red accents and BRZ tS badging, and inside gets black leather and Alcantara upholstery with contrasting red stitching.
New 2022 Subaru BRZ tS Redesign
You can read reviews about BRZ tS, but we would recommend that you wait for the next generation BRZ to come sometime next year. Subaru has yet to release details, but there are rumors circulating that the sports coupe will get a new upgrade worth waiting for.
Last month, Autocar published a report with new details about the second generation Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 sports coupe. Reports say the two-door sports car will get more power (the biggest complaint with the BRZ tS 2020) and will be powered by an Ascent-sourced 24-liter FA24 turbocharged Boxer engine. The new BRZ/86 is likely to ride Toyota’s new TNGA architecture and not the Subaru Global Platform.
The report goes on to say the sports twins will also get an improved interior over the first-generation model and the Toyota 86 will get a name change to the GR86 and will be under the umbrella of Japan’s Gazoo Racing cars with the GR Supra and GR Yaris.
Toyota has recently increased its stake in Subaru Corporation and the strengthened relationship will bring a better version of the BRZ/86 sports car. It will be the first of many models both automakers will collaborate with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric models that will be present in the future.
Our recommendation is to continue the 2022 Subaru BRZ tS and wait for the new second-generation Subaru BRZ sports coupe 2021. It gets new performance improvements with new engines, more power, and interior improvements.
2022 Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 2022
The BRZ and 86 rear-driving sports cars alongside Subaru and Toyota finally got their first redesign since they debuted for the 2012 model year. Subaru has confirmed to Car and Driver that it will not offer BRZ for the 2021 model year, and Toyota said it will end production of 86 this fall, meaning a new generation is coming. Second-generation sports cars will probably arrive next year, and here’s what we know about them so far.
As seen in the spy photos, the BRZ and 86 will retain the same sport-coupe-esque shape but with slightly more slanted hoods and clearer hips. The headlights will get a slimmer look and the grille will be much smaller with a black honeycomb pattern.
The integrated lip spoiler will replace the small fixed rear wing of the first generation car, and the new taillights can have LED light blades connecting the two or style lines between them.
Toyota can also add two letters to the 86 name as well, name it GR86, and add it to Gazoo Racing’s portfolio alongside gr supra and the upcoming GR Corolla hot hatch.
The biggest question is if next-gen sports cars will continue to use naturally envisioned engines or switch to forced induction to create more power. The consensus of the many swirling rumors about the new car’s powertrain is that they will use a Subaru version of the 2.4-liter flat-four, either turbocharged to produce about 260 horsepower or naturally aspired to around 217 horsepower.
Subaru BRZ Engine
In any case, this engine will deliver a bump above the current generation that is naturally aspired to a 2.0-liter flat-four with 205 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. But we’re really looking forward to an extra turbo 55 ponies, and if the next-generation sports car doesn’t come standard with a manual gearbox, we’ll be very disappointed.
Subaru and Toyota both declined to confirm whether the new 86 and BRZ would use more potent turbocharged engines. However, the 260-hp four will outmuscle supra 2.0’s 255-hp turbocharged four-cylinder. Much of the overlap between the 86 and the Supra base may seem odd, but we think it’s possible since the Supra range also includes a much more powerful inline-six and may evolve to include higher-powered variants in the future.
2022 Subaru BRZ Performance
The fact that the next-generation BRZ/GR86 is being a benchmark against mustangs is very encouraging. Currently, toyobaru’s naturally envisioned 2.0-liter flat-four pump emits 205 hp at most, far from the base of the 310 hp Ford Mustang EcoBoost. But the new model should have little chance with the (eventually) turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four coming from the factory used in the Subaru Ascent SUV, which makes 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque.
2022 BRZ Release Date and Price
The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 2022 should make their official debuts shortly after the production of the current generation of cars expires, which could mean as soon as the end of this year. They will arrive in the U.S. sometime next year with an initial price of about $30,000.
