2022 Subaru Forester – The Subaru Forester 2022 mid-size SUV will undergo a midlife facelift later this year – and will likely be in Australian showrooms in early July 2021.
The popular mid-size SUV has found a home with Australians this year so far – it has gotten the first proper update since the current model came to Australia in 2018.

2022 Subaru Forester Change
Reports from Japan show a small change, with headlines on the front revised with reshaped honeycomb grilles and adaptive LED headlights inspired by the new generation Levorg.
Larger pieces of black cladding surround the wheel arches, while a new rim design should also be displayed.
The Japanese Car Sensor does not list any changes to Forester’s interior, suggesting the larger 11.6-inch Outback portrait touchscreen may not be available at this time.
2022 Subaru Forester Safety
Forester’s safety package will reportedly be supported with the addition of junction support for autonomous emergency braking systems.
In contrast, improvements to the lane guard assistance system can be made, allowing hands-free semi-autonomous driving on highways.
The suspension and steering systems are said to be undergoing a re-adjustment for “improved steering and handling,” although the selection of the engine used is not said to have changed.
2022 Subaru Forester Engine
A Subaru Australia spokesman told WhereCar the Forester would continue to feature a 2.0-liter hybrid petrol engine or 2.5-liter four-cylinder, the latter capable of producing 136kW/239Nm.
In Japan, in addition to the 2L hybrid, there is also a 1.8-liter turbo 130kW/300Nm petrol engine on offer.

The Subaru Forester 2022 will arrive around October 2021, with more details available at the local launch soon.
For reference, a medium-sized SUV is currently priced from $35,190 plus an on-road fee for the entry-level 2.5i to $46,490 for the Hybrid S.
2021 Subaru Forester 2.5i Sport Review
The new Subaru Forester 2.5i Sport model is a $41,990 proposition – that’s the MSRP/RRP, or price before the on-road cost.
It’s placed between Premium 2.5i ($39,490) and 2.5iS ($42,990), but it stands out compared to both versions with a revamped design and several inclusions on top of the models below.

The 18-inch black rim with full-size backup, electric sunroof, waterproof fabric interior trim, electric front seat adjustment (driver’s side with memory settings), heated front seat, electric rear door, electric folding rear seat, hands-free, intelligent key entry, and start button, automatic headlights, and automatic wipers.
There is also an 8.0-inch touchscreen media system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring technology, DAB+ digital radio, CD player, six speakers, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, 4xUSB port (2x front, 2x rear), 4.2-inch digital.
Driver info display with digital speed counter, as well as leather-coated steering wheel and derailleur.
Things missing from the Sport 2.5i you might want include auto-dimming rearview mirrors, a proper surround-view camera, and leather upholstery trim.
2021 Subaru Forester Colors
The colors available for this specification consist of Black Crystal Silica, Crystal White Pearl (as seen here), Dark Blue Pearl (exclusive for Sports), Metallic Ice Silver, Metallic Magnetite Gray, and Metallic Bronze Sepia.
Unfortunately, the green and red options are not available in Sport, but you won’t be charged extra no matter which color you choose.
2021 Subaru Forester 2.5i Sport Interior
In style, it’s a little bolder, with a few orange trim highlights around the vents, transmission tunnels, stitches mounted on the dashboard, doors, and seats, and even waterproof ones that look attractive and attractive. Trim on the chair that goes up to the door as well.
The orange finishing trim lifts the cabin atmosphere and makes it feel a little more attractive than a regular Forester. Forester looks a little further in the Subaru to XV row.

Looking ahead, forester cabin presentations are much more interesting in this class.
The front seat is quite comfortable, with electrical adjustments for the driver and passengers. Both are electrically tuned and heated, which is good, and the materials used are comfortable – like a good quality sofa.
The cupholder between the seats is a bit deep, so a small takeaway coffee may be difficult to get out, and there is a bottle holder on the door, a small cupboard in front of the gear selector for wallets and phones, and that’s where you’ll find port 2USB—no wireless phone charging.
2021 Subaru Forester Engine
We don’t see a new 1.8-liter turbo-petrol engine here, with 132kW/300nm currently not available for our market.
Instead, the 2.5i part of the name shows a horizontally opposite 2.5-liter four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine that produces 136kW of power (at 5800rpm) and 239Nm of torque (at 4400rpm).
Forester is only available with lineartronic automatic transmission continuous variable transmission (CVT). Because of Subie, of course, it has a standard all-wheel-drive system (AWD) brand “Symmetrical” as well.
The Sport class is not available with the brand’s hybrid powertrain, although that’s not a significant loss.
The 2.5i model has undergone an increase in cranes for 2021, with a brakeless rating set at 750 kilograms, while the brake crane capacity is now 1800kg (up from a small 1500kg on the previous model).
Fuel Economy
The combined official fuel cycle consumption figures for the Forester 2.5i Sport are identical to the rest of the range: 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers, with emissions, claimed at 168g/km of CO2.
The fuel tank capacity is 63 liters. Therefore, it can run on regular 91RON without a more affordable lead.
The Subaru Forester Sport is an exciting new addition to the range, though it doesn’t move forward in any other way apart from its eye-catching appearance.
It’s a competitive counterpoint to the likes of the CX-5 and CR-V but still hasn’t achieved the same level of smoothness and driving pleasure as the RAV4.
There’s no doubt that the Forester Sport will add the level of appeal Subaru needs in its family SUV lineup since its launch.
Still, we think the thing that will get more customers excited is the new turbocharged top-spec model, which will surely be more appropriate under the sport name.
