2021 Subaru Impreza Hatchback USA Rumors

2021 Subaru Impreza Hatchback USA Rumors – In 2021, Subaru plans to re-produce Impreza Hatchback to complement the previous model’s shortcomings. It’s been over two decades since the Subaru stopped offering a subcompact hatchback developed in-house, but this could change in a few years. What’s more, it could hit the market in a higher performance version as well. In order for this to happen, rumors recently about a Subaru plan to return to the World Rally Championship needs to be a reality.

According to some Japanese sites, Subaru was tempted to return to WRC, the competition that made both the brand and the famous Impreza name board in the 1990s and 2000s. But to do so, Japanese companies need to build a new car, as Impreza and WRX are no longer suitable for series. Instead, the word was Subaru working on a new car subcompact size of Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Yaris.

There is no clue as to how Subaru might design this hatchback. We have yet to see any prototype and sketch designs yet leaked online. This is not surprising though, as subcompact is still at least a few years away. However, it’s safe to assume that any upcoming Subaru will share styling cues with the company’s current vehicles. So we went ahead and created the rendering.

It sports Grille similar to a beehive and it is flanked by squared-off headlamps. This is a little bigger though and a sweep-back towards the A-pillar, A distinctive design feature for most of the current hatchbacks. A large intake in the Hood feeds the air into the engine.

Below, we borrowed the WRX Center bumper section with four rectangular openings in a black frame that extends to the splitter. However, instead of the big side air intake, we went with a black cover and around fog light.

To the side, the Subaru take segment would probably be a typical subcompact hatchback profile. This includes a large side window, a Beltline that slowly ascents back, and a slightly prominent side of the skirt. We add a few lines of character over the side frame and underneath the doorknob, but they can be anywhere based on what we can see on Subarus at this time. Being a performance model, the hatchback can sport a rendition of the famous Gold wheel found at WRX.

Of course, in addition to the performance models shown here, Subaru will offer lighter, more affordable versions to fight the usual Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, and Hyundai i20. This version will have a less aggressive design, likely based more on Impreza than WRX.

With no other subcompact of the Subaru to look into, it’s hard to tell how this hatchback might look inside. However, it is safe to assume that it will not have too many Premium features. Subaru will try to stay affordable and this will translate into a lack of fancy features and gadgets.

But while ordinary models may not be too much to brag about in the basic form, higher performance variants should come with a lot of extras.

As a subcompact, hatchback may be narrow for the back seat of passengers and luggage will not offer too much space. But it’s probably not going to lag far behind the competition in this department.

1.6-liter units are only available in Europe and will make sense in this special Euro hatchback. However, at 112 horsepower, the output at Impreza, four-Banger will not cut the mustard against the competition, as the Volkswagen Polo GTI, Ford Focus ST, and the Toyota Yaris GRMN all give around 200 horses.

Ironically, the 2.0-liter engine will be lower as well, as the current rating on Impreza sits at 152 horsepower. Of course, Subaru could upgrade the machine to squeeze more oomphs. This Unit may seem rather large for a subcompact, but if the Volkswagen managed to fit 2.0 liters in the new Polo GTI, the Subaru should be able to find its way.

2021 Subaru Impreza Hatchback Estimated Price

In order to remain competitive, the Subaru hot-hatching needs to price so it doesn’t come as the most expensive option. While Ford and Volkswagen already had some traditions to rely on in this niche, Subaru would start from scratch. Fortunately, Japanese companies have a big crack to play with. While the Fiesta of ST and Polo GTI started from £19,495 and £21,140, respectively, the Yaris GRMN took a whopping £26,295 before the choice. I think the sticker around the £20,000 mark would be appropriate here, but Subaru could cost a little more.
