2020 Subaru Outback Wagon Changes, Review

2020 Subaru Outback Wagon Changes, Review – Subaru Outback Wagon has an excellent reputation as a smart alternative to an SUV, and the model 2020 redesign brings on a proud tradition. Unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, the next-generation Outback gets elegance in its exterior design, while adding comfort and convenience features.

A turbo engine has been absent from the Outback lineup for a decade, but it makes it back for 2020 and once again stained XT. Replacing the car came out the 3.6-liter Flat-Six upgrade engine, the XT used a turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer-four with 260 horsepower and a 277 lb-ft torque that was installed with continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Not only should this give sprightlier acceleration than ever before, but it also helps Outback provide 3500-pound towing capacity, 800 pounds more than ever before. In other freight news, Subaru claimed a wider rear cargo opening. Now, the maximum volume of cargo with the rear seat folded sits at 76 cubic feet, three cubic feet more than before.

It is obvious that Subaru does not want to stray from the established formula. The redesigned Outback is very similar to the last two generations that a Scout guide might need to differentiate it in the distance.

Non-XT outbacks make do with a 2.5-liter flat-four that makes 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft torque, also with a single-option-just continuous automatic transmission variable (CVT). Subaru said the machine was highly revised compared to the engine’s previous automobile base, and the fuel economy increased to the city an estimated 26 mpg and 33 mpg highway.

All Outbacks, of course, have a Subaru signature all-wheel-drive system with torque-vectoring capability, which is oriented off-Road X-mode, hill-descent control, and 8.7 inches of ground clearance.

The benefit of this evolutionary approach is that Outback has become an impressive performer in the test of Consumer Reports, with the satisfaction and reliability of the owner better than the average. It takes a lot more power and modern features, and they are the emphasis of this redesign.

2020 Subaru Outback Exterior

The term “Outback ” has practically become a verb in the automotive world, referring to how a traditional car can get a rough Makeover with a black wise application, plastic trim. For 2020, Outbacking this wagon has increased, with more daring cosmetics applied to a more sophistical body. Subaru cited the Hiking boot as an inspiration to see.

The most dramatic interior change is the 11.6-inch Infotainment screen in all versions except the basic trim. This is the largest Subaru screen ever offered. It houses controls for entertainment, climate, and vehicle settings. The screen can operate in Split-Screen mode to allow two separate functions to be displayed simultaneously.

There is a Trim top that adds map navigation by TomTom. Instead of paying for upgrades, though, buyers can use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, entering their smartphones for directions. Free WiFi is available on site.

The standard and optional feature set in Outback is complete. The EyeSight bundle’s help driver feature is standard across the board, and all Trim levels but the base model gets a large vertical touchscreen of 11.6 inches. Additional features are available at the top Trim level including refrigerated seat, front-camera view system, and LTE WiFi hotspot.

Trims Limited and Touring have a 10-way-adjustable front seat, a heated seat front and rear, and a long cushioned bottom that can be adjusted for the driver. Heater seats are now warm all the way up to the passenger’s shoulders.

Subaru claims the interior is 3 decibels quieter at the pace of the highway than it used to be, aided by a special weather door stripping and sound-insulation glass. We found that the car is currently effectively shutting down the road and wind noise.

2020 Subaru Outback Wagon Engine

Outback comes standard with a 2.5-liter engine that generates 182 HP, rising slightly from the last generation. This is the same machine that debuted in Forester, where it helps that a small SUV returns impressive fuel economy, but the acceleration there is clearly tepid. Subaru predicted that this powertrain will be EPA-Rated on the 26 mpg city and 33 MPG Highway, an increase of 1 MPG each over the Outback today.

A turbocharged engine was back for the first time since 2009. It replaces the powerful six-cylinder 3.6-liter engine but the Haus.

The designated Model XT will display this 260-HP, 2.4-liter engine, the same as that which drives the climb. Subaru predicted that the Turbo powertrain will be EPA-rated in 23 MPG City and 30 MPG Highway-3 MPG repair for each of the top six-cylinder engines. Both machines are paired with continuous variable transmissions that have a manual mode that simulates moving through eight gears.

Subaru claimed that the body structure was 70 percent rigid and that it could absorb more than 40 percent more energy in front and side crashes.

All Outback models are equipped with the Subaru vision system, a range of advanced driver and safety assistance systems. This includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, lane departure alerts, adaptive cruise control, and centered on the track. Other features available include responsive headlights that spin as cars spin, blind spot warnings and rear cross warnings with automatic braking. A front View monitor system presents a display of 180 degrees on a large central screen that basically helps the driver “See ” through Blind Spots to help with parking.

The Outback also offers a driver monitoring system that uses camera and face recognition software to monitor whether the driver is interrupted or falls asleep. When we experience this system on Forester, we find that it can detect some extreme head movements, such as when the driver has turned off the road, but can not distinguish risky behavior like staring down on the phone Handheld.

2020 Subaru Outback Wagon Price

We expect the price to largely hold the line from the current inland $27,320 price starts, with a cresting XT model of the $40,000 mark when fully loaded. This will hit the dealership this fall.
